Kenyan celebrities andgospel artists are mourning the untimely death of gospel singer Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua, popularly known as Betty Bayo, who passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2025, while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital . 

According to reports from sources close to her family, the Eleventh Hour hitmaker had been battling Leukemia.

News of her death has sparked an outpouring of grief across social media, with fellow gospel artists, celebrities, and fans expressing shock and sorrow over her passing.

Actress Morin shared her grief on Instagram, writing, “My heart cries for the kids, too young to understand why heaven needed their mom. Nooo way ??? RIP Betty Bayo?.”

Gospel singer Daddy Owen expressed his heartbreak, calling Bayo a vessel of grace and faith: “Rest in peace to one of our own, Betty Bayo. ? Our hearts are deeply broken by this loss. Betty was more than just a voice in the Gospel industry—she was a vessel of grace, a woman who poured her soul into every song and inspired countless lives. “A sister for more than 15 years, a friend who was full of happiness. Yaani Leo whole day in hospital couldn’t believe you are no more. It is well, God had His plans. Bye bye siz Betty Bayo ?. To my bro Tash… be strong ??… we have your back.”

Singer Bahati posted on Instagram, “Still unbelievable ??? A sister is gone. Rest in Peace Betty Bayo ?.”

No words can truly ease the pain, but sleep well my siz. May God comfort your family, until we meet again ?️.” Moji Shortbabaa shared, “Thank you for your ministry my sister! You were a blessing to many of us ❤️ Rest in peace!” And Kambua added, “This news is so heartbreaking, especially knowing she has left behind a young family. Rest well Betty Bayo. Betty Bayo rose to fame with her breakout hit “Eleventh Hour”, a song that resonated deeply with gospel music lovers and marked her entry into the limelight.

Released in 2013, the song became a nationwide success and was part of her best-selling album of the same title.
