Kenyan gospel artist Mesh of the celebrated duo Wapendwa Muziki has opened up about his past fears of infertility, revealing deeply personal details about the challenges he and his wife, Ninah, faced before conceiving their first child.
Speaking during an interview with YouTuber Trudy Kitui on Thursday, November 6, 2025, Mesh disclosed that infertility was a long-standing concern in his family — one that once made him believe he might never father a child.
“I Thought I Was Infertile”
In the candid interview, Mesh said he once feared he was barren, given his family’s history with fertility complications.
“At some point I had thought mi ni tasa because hio history iko kwa familia yetu .For a minute nilijua mi ndio nimechaguliwa kuendeleza hio history.''

He further revealed that his wife, Ninah, had no idea about this history until much later in their marriage.
“Nina alijua juzi because it is not something you go bragging about You cancel it from day one you.''
The Family Planning Challenge
Mesh also opened up about a misunderstanding involving family planning that led to delayed conception, heightening the couple’s anxiety.
“Nina alieka family planning of which it was a bad move because we came to learn later huwa inawekwa kama mtu ako na family already . Hio family planning ilitumess because after tumetoa hatukupata mtoto so tukapanick.''
He said that public comments suggesting he might be the problem took an emotional toll on him.
“Kwa comments watu walikua wanasema maybe shida si Nina ni mimi so I was like ama mimi ndio shida because of history ya familia yetu,” Mesh recalled.

Faith Through the Journey
Mesh and Nina dated for eight years before tying they tied knot in 2021 after Mesh proposed live on KBC's Angaza show, having chosen to keep their relationship pure and anchored in faith.

But after their wedding, what they expected to be a swift transition into parenthood became four years of silence and waiting.
The Wapendwa Muziki couple has been open in the past about their long and emotional wait for a child. They previously shared videos of their morning prayer sessions, pleading with God for a breakthrough.
In those quiet years, their faith never wavered . They continued to sing about God’s goodness, even when the promise had not yet come .
During the popular Hallelujah Challenge, the couple famously said they would “dress like their miracle” — an act of faith that inspired their song Amefanya Mungu, which has now garnered over 10 million views on YouTube.
Ninah described the period as one filled with tears and emotional distress, with Mesh serving as her main source of strength. Despite the emotional toll, they remained steadfast in their faith, using their story to encourage other couples experiencing similar challenges.
“They wanted to show that trusting in God’s timing is not in vain,” Ninah once shared.

For years, they sang songs of hope, poured out their hearts in worship, and trusted that someday, God would write a new chapter in their story.
Today, Kenya’s adored gospel duo Wapendwa Muziki — Nina and Mesh — have finally shared the news their fans have long prayed for alongside them: they are expecting their first child.
The announcement came in September 2025 through a tender, joy-filled YouTube video that left many of their followers in tears of gratitude. The couple’s journey to this moment has been long and deeply spiritual — a testimony built on faith, endurance, and unwavering love.
