Raila Junior has stepped out for the final journey of his father, the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, as the nation prepares to bid farewell to one of its most influential leaders.

Final Resting Place in Bondo
 Raila is set to be laid to rest today at his Opoda Farm in Bondo, Siaya County. The solemn procession to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) will begin from his Opoda residence, where a brief family and military service is expected before departure.

Dignitaries and Military Officials Present
 Among the senior government officials already present at the Odinga home is NIS Director Noordin Haji, alongside family members, church leaders, and top military personnel.

Police outriders and military officers are on standby to lead the motorcade once the casket is placed onto a military vehicle carrier for the final journey to the university grounds, where the funeral service will be held.

Body Airlifted from Kisumu to Bondo
 The late Odinga’s body was airlifted to Opoda Farm following a public viewing ceremony at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu, where thousands of mourners had gathered to pay their last respects.

His casket, draped in the Kenyan flag, symbolised the immense national pride and gratitude for his decades of public service.

Emotional Arrival at Opoda Farm
 The helicopter carrying his remains touched down at 4:16 p.m., marking a moment of deep emotion. As it landed, mourners broke into wails, with others blowing vuvuzelas in tribute to the man they fondly called Jakom. The family received the body upon arrival, before a night vigil was held ahead of the burial.

Change of Plans for Final Journey
 Initially, plans had indicated that the body would be transported by road, but Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo later confirmed that the arrangement had changed for logistical reasons.

 As the country gathers to honour him, the atmosphere remains one of both sorrow and gratitude, marking the end of an era for a leader whose legacy will continue to shape Kenya’s political and social landscape for generations to come.
