This comes amid a growing loan book for the lender which closed at Sh14 billion last year up from Sh9.8 billion, majority of the credit being advanced to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

It has opened its 24th branch in Bungoma Town as it seeks to deepen financial inclusion and empower small businesses across Kenya.

According to management, the Bungoma branch is set to power farmers, traders and MSMEs at Kenya’s Western commercial hub.

Bungoma is a vibrant transit town with heavy commercial activity driven by its proximity to the Malaba border point, making it a key hub for trade and cross-border business.

The county is also regarded as a key agricultural powerhouse for the country, contributing significantly to the production of maize, sugarcane, peanuts and bananas.

The branch will provide agriculture financing tailored for the peculiar needs of customers, including asset financing for tractors, farm machinery and equipment to support agribusiness productivity.

Beyond agriculture, Bungoma is home to a growing healthcare sector anchored on government and private institutions, creating opportunities for medical suppliers and traders who will benefit from the bank’s credit lines, trade finance and working capital solutions, management said.

The county’s hospitality industry, with growing investments in hotels and accommodation facilities, also stands to gain from Kingdom Bank’s payment collections and cash management solutions, while Chwele Market, one of the region’s largest open-air markets, offers opportunities to expand access to Faidi Dada, the bank’s flagship women-focused banking solution, according to the lender.

“We are pleased to establish a presence in Bungoma, a county with immense potential across agriculture, health, trade and hospitality. This branch reflects our strategic positioning as the MSME bank, dedicated to delivering flexible and affordable financial solutions,” Kingdom Bank managing director, Anthony Mburu, saidduring the opening of the branch on Monday.

Customers in Bungoma will have access not only to in-branch services but also to Kingdom Bank’s digital channels as well as Co-operative Bank’s ATMs and Co-op Kwa Jirani agents nationwide.

Kingdom Bank Bungoma branch is expected to play a central role in enhancing service delivery, expanding market share and driving Kingdom’s ambition to be the financial partner of choice for MSMEs and retail customers across Kenya.
