Consumption of jet fuel in Kenya has shown a significant upward trend in recent years, reflecting growth in the aviation sector. The figures, presented in thousands of metric tonnes (000 MT), rose steadily from 398.38 in 2020 to 732.34 in 2024.
A notable jump occurred between 2023 and 2024, when consumption increased by 10.8% to reach 732,340 metric tonnes in 2024
The overall consumption grew from 506.87 (000 MT) in 2021 to 594.52 (000 MT) in 2022, before reaching 661.1 (000 MT) in 2023.
For the year 2025, the consumption recorded up to July stood at 347.18 (000 MT). This rising usage underscores the rebounding and expansion of air travel and cargo operations in and out of the country following earlier slowdowns.
The data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics and the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority tracks this essential resource for the nation's aviation industry.
