Dubai-based businessman Augustus Kyalo Muli was given a hero’s welcome on Saturday as he returned home to Kitui for the first time in months, drawing massive crowds and effectively bringing the bustling town to a standstill.

The air was electric as thousands of residents flooded the streets, cheering, singing, and waving banners emblazoned with Muli’s name.

The usually calm Kitui town transformed into a sea of colour and excitement, as locals, boda boda riders, and traders abandoned their daily routines to witness his grand return.

A Grand Procession Like No Other

Muli’s arrival was marked by a lavish motorcade featuring luxury vehicles, sirens, and motorcycles escorting him through Kitui’s main streets.

Residents lined up from Kalundu to the town centre, chanting his name as his convoy snaked its way toward his family home.

The businessman, who is affectionately referred to by many locals as “Son of the Soil,” stepped out to acknowledge the roaring crowd, waving and smiling as chants of “Kyalo! Kyalo!” echoed through the town.
