Reacting to the bizarre turn of events, Sammy Boy lamented how what was initially just a lighthearted internet joke had now taken an uncomfortable direction.

“Sick world and I repeat sick world, you all took a joke too far and now see,” he wrote.

He made it clear that while the SIM2 trend was meant to be funny, the unexpected romantic advances crossed the line.

The Origin of SIM2

TheSIM2 joke started when  Kenyan comedian Flaqo created a comedy skit about forex traders and the so-called “SIM2” lifestyle.

In the skit, the term “SIM2” was used to mock the idea of having a secret or backup plan — often linked to money, relationships, or hidden dealings.

The comedian’s skit and similar content quickly sparked controversy, with traders like Sammy Boy criticising Flaqo for promoting a negative mindset and undermining the forex profession by linking it to illicit businesses.

Other figures, such as Kenyan Prince, have also weighed in on Flaqo’s content, further escalating the online debate.

This background has played a big role in shaping the jokes and comments now being directed toward forex traders like Sammy Boy — and even Thee Pluto, who has also found himself caught in the chatter.

Viral But Misinterpreted

As the SIM2 phrase gained popularity, memes and jokes flooded timelines. However, as Sammy Boy’s case shows, not everyone took it lightly especially forex traders.

Some fans took the skit too literally and went as far as confessing their feelings to him, assuming he was part of the joke.

This turn of events has highlighted how quickly internet humour can blur lines between entertainment and reality.

Social Media Reactions

Sammy Boy’s post quickly stirred conversation online. Some fans sympathised with him, agreeing that the trend had gone too far.

Others, however, found the situation humorous and continued to share memes under the SIM2 hashtag.

For many, his frustration underscored the unpredictable nature of viral content — what starts as harmless fun can unexpectedly invade personal boundaries.
