Content creator and comedian Chebet Ronoh has once again stirred lively debate online after sharing her bold thoughts on the institution of marriage.
Ronoh, known for her outspoken personality, took to her Instagram stories to clarify her perspective following criticism of her earlier remarks where she said 'Marriage is for fools'.
She reposted a thought-provoking message from Good Fundi Services, captioning it, “A critical thinker, they are so rare.”
The post argued that marriage cannot be sustained purely by human effort or intellect, suggesting instead that it requires divine guidance. It outlined the paradoxes within marriage:
Two foolish or ignorant people cannot make it work.
Two wise people cannot either.
A pairing of one wise and one foolish also fails.
The statement concluded: “Only a wise person can see an ignorant person, and that already makes the wise not a good candidate for marriage, as marriage is not the work of man but of God.”

Ronoh’s original post was quickly interpreted by many as a critique of marriage, sparking both agreement and backlash across social media platforms.
While some applauded her for encouraging deeper reflection on traditional unions, others accused her of being dismissive of those who are married.

The Backlash
Among the voices responding to the conversation was entrepreneur Cashmeer Sayyid, who, in a video on Instagram, rejected the idea that married people are “fools.”
She suggested that such claims often come across as bitterness from those not in relationships. Sayyid added that rather than trading insults, both sides should respect each other’s choices and “live life without name-calling.”
