Kenyan MP Peter Salasya and his staff member Harriet Njenga have moved quickly to shut down rumours of a secret romantic relationship between them.

The claims, which were sparked by social media personality Kimbikimbi, have drawn heated reactions from both parties, who insist the allegations are baseless.

Salasya: “She Just Works for Me”

In a fiery response, Salasya dismissed the gossip, saying there was no truth to the speculation. He clarified that Njenga is strictly a colleague who works in his office, and their relationship is entirely professional.

Taking a swipe at Kimbikimbi, Salasya remarked sarcastically:

“Uko na ng’ombe ngapi nikuunganishie?”

The MP’s comment implied that if Kimbikimbi was genuinely interested in Njenga, he should pursue her in a respectable manner rather than dragging her name into online gossip.

Njenga Responds: “Keep My Name Out of Your Mouth”

Njenga also issued a stern statement directed at Kimbikimbi. She accused him of peddling lies for clout and demanded that her name be left out of baseless stories.

“Kimbikimbi, you and your friend can get attention and views with anything else, but keep my boss’s name and I out of your mouth,” she wrote.

Njenga made it clear that she has no involvement in the alleged affair and reiterated that she is focused on her professional responsibilities.

Pushback Against Gossip Culture

This incident reflects a broader trend in Kenya’s online space, where gossip-driven content often overshadows facts.

Public figures are increasingly speaking out against bloggers and influencers who, in the chase for likes and views, spread unverified rumours about their personal lives.

Salasya and Njenga’s strong pushback highlights their frustration with the culture of sensationalism that blurs the line between public interest and personal privacy.

A Familiar Challenge for Public Figures

For many politicians and celebrities, speculation about relationships and private life has become a routine part of public scrutiny.

However, as this case shows, such rumours can also damage reputations, strain professional relationships, and fuel unnecessary controversies.

By addressing the claims directly and in strong terms, Salasya and Njenga have attempted to put the matter to rest — while also sending a warning shot to those who thrive on gossip at the expense of truth.
