Harambee Stars' striker Masud Juma has officially announced his bid to become the next Member of Parliament for Isiolo North in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
The footballer, who recently secured a transfer to Lebanese side Nejmeh SC, announced on his Instagram account.
His move to politics comes just a few weeks after he left Migori Youth FC, signalling a major career shift both on and off the pitch.

A Striker's Political Manifesto
Juma, a forward for the Kenya national team, outlined his political agenda on his social media page. His manifesto focuses on key areas he believes will improve the lives of the people of Isiolo North.
While the full details were not provided, the message indicated a strong focus on community development, which he plans to champion if elected.
“From the pitch to Parliament—together, we can score a better future for Isiolo North,” he captioned his manifesto.
His announcement has garnered a mix of reactions from his followers, many of whom are more familiar with his football career than his political aspirations.

From the Pitch to the Ballot Box
Born and raised in Isiolo, Juma has a deep connection to the constituency he hopes to represent. The footballer's career began with local clubs like Isiolo Youth FC before he made his mark in the Kenyan Premier League with Kariobangi Sharks, where he won the Golden Boot in 2017.

His talent has taken him across Africa and even to the Middle East, with stints at clubs in South Africa, theUnited Arab Emirates, and Libya.
His most recent move to Nejmeh SC in the Lebanese Premier League for the 2025-26 season marks another chapter in his sporting journey. Despite this, Juma appears committed to his political ambitions, with the 2027 elections firmly on his mind.
The New Role of Athletes
Juma's entry into politics follows a growing trend of sportsmen and women using their public platform to pursue political office.

This mirrors similar shifts seen globally, where athletes leverage their popularity and public trust to advocate for change in their communities.
His decision to run for office in his home constituency of Isiolo highlights his desire to give back to the community that nurtured his football talent.
In his manifesto, Juma outlined some of the key sectors he will focus on if elected MP. They include youth opportunities, better infrastructure, sports development, fighting poverty and inequality, unity, and justice, among others.
The coming months will show how Juma balances his professional football career with his political campaigning, as he vies for the Isiolo North MP seat.
