Bonfire Adventures co-founder Simon Kabu is celebrating his 51st birthday in style, thanks to a touching gift from his daughter, Maurine Kabu.

In a surprise that has since gone viral, Maurine gifted her father a fully paid trip to Thailand and Ksh1 million in cash.

Kabu shared the news on Instagram, showing a photo of the cash neatly spread out in Kenyan shillings, dollars, and euros.

He recalled a moment from 2024 when he gave Maurine a credit card with over Ksh2 million for a trip to Cape Town, only for her to spend just Ksh32,000.

“The issue for me is not the amount but the thought! God is great!”

A Viral Moment

The heartwarming story sparked a wave of reactions online, with many people commenting on the generous gesture.

@gh0stface_madi joked, "Surprising him na pesa yake ni crazy ??."

A 57K Contact List

In a follow-up post, Kabu shared another unique fact about his life: the sheer size of his phone contact list.

He revealed that he has 57,834 numbers saved and invited his followers to reflect on their own networks. He also made a playful suggestion.

If everyone in his contact list sent him Ksh51 to celebrate his 51st birthday, it would be a truly memorable gift.

“If you are to give Simon Kabu a birthday wish or gift, what would you give me?” he asked his followers.

For a man who built one of Kenya’s biggest travel companies, this birthday is less about material wealth and more about family, mentorship, and the joy of being celebrated.
