French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, are preparing to present photographic and scientific evidence in a US court.

This documentation aims to prove definitively that Mrs Macron is a woman.

The Macrons have launched a defamation suit in the US against Candace Owens. Ms Owens is an American political commentator, author, activist, and right-wing influencer who has repeatedly promoted the claim that Brigitte Macron was born male.

The couple filed the lawsuit in July.

The US Defamation Challenge

The lawsuit alleges that Ms Owens disregarded credible evidence disproving her claim. Instead, she platformed "known conspiracy theorists and proven defamers".

Owens, a former commentator for the US outlet Daily Wire, has millions of followers on social media. She claimed last year that she would "stake [her] entire professional reputation" on the allegation that France’s First Lady is a man named Jean-Michel Trogneux.

According to The BBC, Trogneux is, in reality, Mrs Macron's older brother.

Ms Owens also repeated the claims in an eight-part YouTube podcast series. The Macrons are seeking a jury trial and punitive damages.

Their legal team argues that they have suffered "substantial reputational damage" and "substantial economic damages" as a result of the false claims.

“This is about defending my honour! Because this is nonsense.”

According to the news outlet, the Macrons must prove "actual malice" in the American defamation case. This means proving the defendant knowingly spread false information or acted with reckless disregard for the truth. Ms Owens's lawyers have filed a motion to dismiss the claim.

Scientific Proof to Set the Record Straight

Tom Clare, the Macrons' lawyer in the case, told the BBC's Fame Under Fire podcast about the planned evidence. He confirmed that documentation attesting to Mrs Macron’s female sex since birth would be tendered in court.

Mr Clare said that there would be "expert testimony that will come out that will be scientific in nature".

While he did not reveal the exact nature of this testimony, he said the couple were prepared to demonstrate fully, "both generically and specifically," that the allegations are untrue.

The Macrons will also present existing photographs of Brigitte Macron pregnant and raising her children.

Mrs Macron, who is 72, has three children from a previous marriage, born in 1975, 1977, and 1984. She also has seven grandchildren.
