Kenyan singer Masauti has finally addressed why he's been so quiet recently. He's been the subject of lots of rumours that he's quit music or isn't serious enough about his career.
In an interview with Radio 47, Masauti clarified that his recent absence wasn't about a lack of commitment. He pointed to personal issues and family responsibilities that slowed him down.
Responding to Khaligraph Jones
The discussion was sparked by comments from fellow artist Khaligraph Jones. Masauti confirmed that Khaligraph had praised his talent but also expressed concern about his inconsistency.
"Yes, I saw that Khaligraph said he sees that I have talent but wonders why I do not release songs constantly. Truly, he said I have talent but I am lazy. But on that, you know everyone has their own pace in life."
Masauti explained that he understands the observation, but he strongly disagrees with being called lazy.
"I Have My Own Plans"
Masauti stressed that his life and career move at a different speed than others. He isn't following anyone else's path.
"The way he is moving with his life is not the same as how I am moving with mine. I also have my own plans. There were things I was doing until people thought that I was going slowly."
He revealed that his struggles weren't about romantic relationships, as some people might have guessed. Instead, they were more serious, rooted in his family.

Working Independently
Despite his popularity, Masauti doesn't have a formal manager. He explained that he works as an independent artist with a small, trusted team. He's had offers from many potential managers, but the deals weren't right for him.
"Many people have approached me, but the agreements were not right, so they did not succeed," he said.
