Kenyan DJ and entertainer DJ Xclusive has sparked an online debate after urging people to respect dress codes and general etiquette when attending events.
In a recent post from a radio conversation, the DJ criticized how some guests disregard instructions given by event organizers, particularly when it comes to appearance.
“When you are called to an event and there is a dress code and you don’t have it, heri ukae home. Unatuharibia picha,” he said, suggesting that ignoring a set theme diminishes the intended look and feel of the occasion.
He went further to highlight another common issue—guests showing up late or arriving unprepared.

“Imagine we made plans but you come with excuses that you’re from a previous engagement,” DJ Xclusive remarked, stressing that punctuality and commitment are also key aspects of etiquette.
The Unwritten Rules of Social Gatherings
His comments quickly gained traction, with many agreeing that adhering to basic rules is part of showing respect to hosts and fellow attendees.

Event organizers often rely on dress codes and schedules to create cohesion, elevate branding, and deliver a particular atmosphere.
The discussion, however, expanded beyond attire to cover wider concerns about how people carry themselves at social and corporate functions.
From failing to RSVP, ignoring seating arrangements, and constantly being on phones during key moments, to showing up underdressed, many argued that lapses in etiquette affect the flow and overall experience of an event.
Mixed Reactions and a Call for Respect

Fans reacted strongly to DJ Xclusive’s remarks, with opinions split. One user backed him, writing: “I 100% agree.” Another dismissed his stance, saying: “I will come just as I am.”
Others responded with humor, with one joking: “I will come in pajamas—why are you setting rules?”
As an event organizer, he emphasizes that a dress code or schedule, whether black-tie, cultural, or themed, is meant to unify guests and enhance the collective experience.
Guests who follow them contribute to the event’s visual and social identity, while those who ignore them risk disrupting the atmosphere.
