Martin Kamotho, known to millions as Githeri Man, has made a public appeal. He's asking Kenyans to help him buy a car, saying that walking everywhere has become difficult.
Kamotho became an instant celebrity in 2017. A photo of him eating a plate of githeri—a popular Kenyan dish of maize and beans—while waiting in a voting queue went viral during the general election.
The simple image turned him into a national sensation. He was celebrated as a symbol of peace and patience and even received a State Commendation. His fame also led to various gifts and endorsements.

But the spotlight has faded. Kamotho recently appeared on the "Broke and Famous" show with Commentator 254 and opened up about his current situation.
He admitted that maintaining his celebrity status has been tough. Now, he's hoping to get back on his feet with the help of the public.
The Appeal
During the interview, Kamotho looked directly into the camera and made a heartfelt plea. He said he simply wants a small car to make his life easier.
“Mimi naeza taka mnisaidia. Badala ya kuenda mguu nipate kagari niendange nako. Sitaki kuona nikitembea mguu kila mara. Hata mimi nitembee na kagari kama kale kako.”
This translates to: "I would like you to help me. Instead of walking, I can get a small car and drive it. I don't want to be seen walking all the time. I also want to ride in a small car like yours."

He made it clear that a car is his priority for now, saying other needs, like housing, can wait.
Mixed Reactions Online
His request sparked a lot of conversation on social media. The reactions from Kenyans have been a real mix.
Some people were critical, calling his request a sign of entitlement.
@itsdoofyjax: "He wants to carry githeri [in the car]? Talk about entitlement."
@chief_23_e: "Release a diss track on Diana first."
Others were more sympathetic, seeing it as another example of how quickly fame can disappear.
@kenyanaddict_official: "Every man for himself… God for us all."
For now, the question remains whether the public will once again rally behind the man who captured the nation's heart in 2017. Will they help Githeri Man get behind the wheel?
