Kenyan musician Bahati has started a new chapter in his life. The popular artist has enrolled at East African University to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, a milestone he says is long overdue.

This is the first time the award-winning artist has joined a university, marking a significant step in his personal and professional journey.

A Dream Finally Realised

Speaking at his admission on Thursday, Bahati shared that financial struggles had kept him from pursuing higher education earlier. Growing up in Mathare, he didn't have the opportunity to go to university.

"I’ve been looking forward to doing this for a while... Mungu ameniwezesha sasa hii naweza join university because education is very important."

From the Slums to Academia

Bahati’s story has always been one of resilience. He rose to fame from humble beginnings in Mathare, first in gospel music and then with mainstream hits. His career has also seen him explore politics and entrepreneurship.

By enrolling in university, he is adding another layer to his journey and showing the importance of continuous learning.

Mixed Reactions Online

Bahati’s admission stirred debate online, with many reminding him of his controversial past moves.

@shadrack_kenyagah: “It’s good PR for the university ✅✅✅.”

@kev.wasike: “Clout chasing everywhere.”

@diddy_timmy: “Na hii kiwi ni mingi kwa nywele bana ?.”

@victor_mumo._: “Harambee Stars Typing and Deleting.”

For critics, the enrollment felt like another PR stunt from an artist whose digital footprint has often been linked to clout-chasing antics and unfulfilled promises, most notably the KSh 1 million he pledged to Harambee Stars but has yet to deliver.
