Geoffrey Mosiria has stirred debate after calling for entertainment joints to be moved back to Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
“The city center now feels lifeless at night. In the past, Nairobians could enjoy a vibrant nightlife within the CBD, but today most entertainment spots are hidden in residential estates, creating conflict with families and security concerns,” he said.

This approach has helped him rise to fame, positioning him as one of the emerging voices pushing for reforms in how the city is managed.
Mixed Reactions to His Proposal
While some Kenyans agreed with Mosiria that returning nightlife to the CBD would ease noise and insecurity in estates, others were quick to poke holes in the proposal.

Critics argued that the CBD is notorious for police crackdowns and random arrests, especially during nighttime operations.
“Yes, nightlife would return to town, but so would the arrests. We all know how city askaris operate,” one online commentator remarked.
Another noted, “The number of youths getting arrested will definitely shoot up.

Some analysts suggest that reviving the CBD’s nightlife could also boost small businesses, from taxi operators to food vendors, creating jobs and injecting fresh energy into the local economy.
Nairobi’s CBD at night is unpredictable. People will fear enjoying themselves because of harassment.”
Others suggested that rather than relocating clubs, the government should focus on regulating noise levels and enforcing proper zoning laws.
“The solution is not moving problems around but fixing them,” a Nairobi resident posted.
