From the victorious game opener against DR Congo, a spirited draw with Angola, and a win against their opponent Morocco, Kenya has been in great celebration.
With the win, Harambee Stars have secured a spot in the quarterfinals and will look to build on this momentum as they take on Zambia in their final group match.
The Star had an exclusive interview with Harambee Stars Captain Aboud Omar and midfielder Marvin Omondi on August 12.
The Kenyan stars were asked about some of their plans after the 2024 African Cup of Nations (CHAN), as many would expect them to relax and have time to themselves.
Aboud revealed that his plans after CHAN 2024 were to have better opportunities and a better life.
“When I am not playing football, you will either find me at the gym or watching a movie,” he began.
“After the CHAN games, we are looking forward to more games outside the country. I do not think there will be a more relaxed time because we still have a league awaiting us,” Aboud said.
Omondi, on the other hand, said that he did not have any plans as well as he was more focused on the upcoming games.
“We also won the Kenya police games, so after this, we will be headed to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) CHAN will be done by August 30, then after we will head to Tanzania for a friendly tournament, the Kagame cup from September 2 to September 17,” he said.
Omondi said whenever he is off the pitch, he will either be sleeping or watching a movie too.
After the friendly tournament in Tanzania, the Kenyan stars said they will then head for the CAF games on September 19.
The midfielder said that he would be lying if he said he had any other plans for the games, which he is very ready for.
Aboud said they have always been focused on all their games, adding that it was the reason why they had almost two months of preparation.
“Our ambition and target is to win the trophy, so each and every game is like a final to us and we have to win,” he said.
He added that they do not want to disappoint the Kenyan people, so they always do their best to win.
“The Kenyan people are our heroes and we are together in this,” Aboud said.
The Harambee Stars midfielder further urged the Kenyan people to support them by flooding the stadium.
“Every time we see Kenyans cheering on us in the stadium, we feel more motivated and appreciate that. On our part as the players, we will not let the Kenyans down,” Omondi said.
