Death trends in Kenya: 2024 snapshot

Kenya registered 206,417 deaths nationwide in 2024, with 115,242 being male and 91,173 female.

A significant 13.9% of all registered deaths were among children under five.

Community-registered deaths accounted for 45.1% of the total.

Furthermore, the number of Kenyans dying abroad rose by 13.0%, from 270 cases in 2023 to 305 in 2024.

The United States remained the leading country for these deaths, contributing 23.3% in 2024.
