The African Nations Championship (CHAN) is a football tournament introduced by CAF in 2007, with its first edition held in Côte d'Ivoire in 2009.
Uniquely, CHAN features only locally based players, giving homegrown talent a continental stage.
DR Congo won the inaugural tournament, and the number of participating teams was expanded to 16 in 2011.
