Comedian Eric Omondi has opened up about what pushed him to start his well-known charity project, 'Sisi kwa Sisi'.
Famous for making people laugh, Eric has recently taken on a new role — helping others, standing with victims, and fighting for justice.
In an interview with TNX Africa, Eric shared that the death of Recks Maasai last year moved him deeply and sparked his decision to help.
“The mother of Kennedy Onyango, a boy who was shot in the leg, didn’t even know where her son was. She had no food or money for school fees. She asked for help with hospital bills — and I already knew her son had been hurt before she did,” Eric explained.

After seeing her struggles, Eric felt he had to do more than just help one family. He started a fundraising campaign to support parents who lost their children or whose kids were injured during protests.
“Many of these parents are either out working or even protesting themselves when something bad happens,” he said.
Even though some fans have criticized him, Eric says he won’t stop because this mission is very personal to him.
He also mentioned that the loss of his own brother, Fred Omondi, who passed away last year, was part of what drives him to help others.
The 'Sisi kwa Sisi' initiative became even more popular after Eric helped build a bridge in Kisii. This happened after a video of a young girl, Kemunto, struggling to cross a dangerous, broken bridge went viral.

Thanks to the campaign, Kenyans came together and built a strong new bridge named "Kemunto Bridge", which has made life safer for people in Nyakumbati Village.
The initiative has done even more good — like helping clear a KSh1.4 million hospital bill for singer Peter ‘Miracle Baby’.
In recent months, Eric has also helped raise money for the families of Albert Ojwang and Boniface Kariuki, showing that his mission to support others is still going strong.
Eric Omondi’s journey with 'Sisi kwa Sisi' shows how personal pain can inspire positive change. Through his charity work, he continues to bring hope and support to many families facing difficult times, proving that even a comedian can make a big difference in people’s lives.
