Nevnina, the widow of the late Albert Ojwang, marked what would have been her husband's 32nd birthday with a heartfelt tribute, just days after laying him to rest.

The young mother took to social media on Sunday, July 7—Saba Saba Day—to post a touching message alongside a photo of her late husband, expressing her deep sorrow and enduring love for him.

“Happy heavenly birthday, my love, chunya. Today, the world should be celebrating you—your smile, your laughter, and your big heart. But instead, we’re left with silence, pain, and memories that both comfort and break us. You were stolen from us far too soon, taken in a way no one ever deserves. We laid you to rest on Friday, but nothing about this feels like peace,” she wrote.

Nevnina reflected on their life together, remembering Ojwang not only as a devoted partner and father but also as the emotional center of their home. She recalled the warmth, laughter, and football banter they once shared—particularly his unwavering love for Manchester United.

“You were the heart of our home, a proud Manchester United fan (even though I still think City is better). I’d give anything to argue about football with you again, to hear your voice, to feel your arms around me. You were more than my husband. You were my best friend.

A beautiful father to our son G. A rock to your parents and a light to everyone who knew you. There’s an emptiness now that nothing can fill. We miss you sana, painfully, every moment of every day. But today, we celebrate you. We remember your love, your laughter, your strength. We will keep your name alive. We will fight for your memory. Happy birthday in heaven, my king. Forever loved. Forever missed. Never forgotten,” she added.

Ojwang’s death sent shockwaves across the country. He was brutally tortured to death while in police custody at the Central Police Station in Nairobi, just hours after being arrested at his family home in Homa Bay County. His tragic death has sparked national outcry and demands for justice.

He was laid to rest on Friday, July 4, in an emotional ceremony attended by thousands of mourners who gathered to pay their final respects.
