While Nairobi experienced extensive roadblocks and heavy police deployment on all major routes leading into the Central Business District, similar, albeit varying, levels of preparedness were observed in other towns.

For instance, reports indicated that major businesses in Kenya’s newest city, Eldoret remain closed with limited activities going on.

Saba Saba, meaning "Seven Seven" in Swahili, holds profound historical significance in Kenya, commemorating the seminal pro-democracy demonstrations that took place on July 7, 1990.

On that day, ordinary Kenyans bravely defied the then-ruling KANU party and President Daniel Moi's one-party authoritarian regime, demanding the reintroduction of multi-party democracy
