A viral photo showing digital content creator Chebet Ronoh with a visibly swollen lip has sparked concern among her followers, with many speculating she had been assaulted.

However, Ronoh quickly addressed the matter on her Instagram stories, insisting that she was safe at home and denouncing the image as digitally altered.

“I am completely fine… Someone has edited a picture of me for whatever reason,” she wrote. “Leave me alone.”

Despite her denial, further allegations emerged online from her friend Mark, who claimed the influencer was indeed assaulted during a hangout with another female friend and her boyfriend.

According to Mark, a disagreement over food escalated into violence after Ronoh reportedly asked the man to pay for the food he had eaten. Mark alleged that the man turned violent and that Ronoh’s friend watched without intervening.

Blogger Njambi Fever also picked up the story and shared both photos and a video allegedly showing the man charging at Ronoh.

In her post, Njambi stated, “Chebet Rono was assaulted by her friend’s boyfriend… she asked him to pay [for the food] and he beat her.”

Njambi went on to describe the friend as complicit, saying Ronoh was “surrounded by snakes.”

Ronoh, however, strongly pushed back against the claims, labelling them false and reportedly urging Njambi to delete the video.

But Njambi stood her ground, stating, “I don’t delete stories. Why would you say that you’re okay yet you’re not?”

The situation escalated further when Mark released screenshots of his private chats with Ronoh, in which she appeared upset that the alleged assault photos had been leaked.

In the messages, Ronoh expressed disbelief and disappointment, writing, “Please say it is a lie… This is a police case. Why do such a thing?”

Mark defended his decision, saying he only intended to stand up for her: “It’s not evil to tell the truth and stand up for you. If you want to be mad, be mad. You didn’t deserve that.”

Mpasho reached out to Chebet Ronoh for a statement regarding the claims made by Njambi and Mark. However, by the time of publication, she had not responded to our request for comment.

The controversy has sparked mixed reactions online, with some praising Mark and Njambi for trying to seek justice, while others have questioned the ethics of sharing personal content without consent.
