The hands that have styled some of Kenya and Tanzania's biggest stars are now reaching out for help. Sam, famously known as @kitikisam on social media, a beloved celebrity barber based in Nairobi, is facing a daunting personal battle after being diagnosed with stage 3 stomach cancer.
The news has sent ripples of concern through the entertainment community and among his many clients, including Tanzanian music sensation Rayvanny and Kenyan radio personality Kamene Goro.
The challenging diagnosis has forced Sam to step away from his tools at Mintos Barbershop in Mombasa, where he built a reputation for his exceptional skill. Currently undergoing chemotherapy, the fight against cancer has taken a severe toll, not just on his health, but also on his finances.
In a heartfelt plea shared on Instagram, Sam bravely opened up about his predicament, appealing to well-wishers to assist him in covering his escalating medical bills.
"Please help me heal. Due to illness, my life has changed drastically. I'm reaching out with hope and humility. Your support can help me get better. Donate to 0724590868," his post read, a raw cry for assistance from a man who has always prided himself on his craft.

Relocating from Mombasa to Nairobi to be closer to his family for support during this trying period, Sam is currently staying at his sister's place while continuing his arduous treatment.
He revealed that while the initial medical expenses were significantly higher, he bravely utilized all his personal savings and family contributions to cover a substantial portion. Now, he's aiming to raise Ksh 300,000 to cover the remaining costs, a sum crucial for his ongoing treatment and recovery.
"I'm looking for KSh 300,000. I used all my savings and family support to cover part of it. I'm just appealing to any well-wisher to support me. I will get back on my feet," he expressed with a quiet determination.
Despite his current limitations, Sam's passion for barbering remains undimmed. He confirmed that he can still offer his services, albeit on a call-out basis within Nairobi.
"I have the skills. Right now, I'm not able to work in a barbershop, but I can do in calls. If anyone within Nairobi needs my services, they can call me. I believe the little support will make a difference," he stated, highlighting his resilience and willingness to work even through adversity.

"Meet kitikisam the barber... A talented and passionate barber who has been a key part of the Mintos Barbershop family... His health comes first, and his place on our team will always be here for him," their post read, emphasizing their solidarity with their colleague.
The collective support from his former workplace, celebrities, and well-wishers stands as a testament to Sam's impact and the community's hope for his full recovery.
