By cutting them out, individuals naturally reduce their calorie intake, which may lead to gradual, sustainable weight loss.

However, nutritionists stress that sugar avoidance is just one piece of the puzzle. Other key habits include:

Prioritising protein, fibre, and hydration to stay full and energised.

Practising mindful eating to prevent overconsumption.

Ensuring adequate sleep and stress management, both of which regulate metabolism.

Regular exercise and portion control for overall health.

Building a Balanced Plate

For those inspired by Mukami’s approach, Harvard Health offers a visual guide to optimal meal planning:

Divide Your Plate:

50%: Split equally between whole grains (like quinoa or brown rice) and lean proteins (fish, beans, poultry).

Remaining 50%: Fill two-thirds with colourful vegetables (excluding starchy options like potatoes) and one-third with fresh fruit.

Hydration:

Water is the best beverage choice. Unsweetened tea or coffee can occasionally substitute.

Limit milk to 1–2 servings daily.

This model promotes nutrient diversity while naturally curbing empty calories, aligning with Mukami’s sugar-free philosophy.
