Jamal Musiala has broken his silence following two worrying incidents on the pitch this week. The 23-year-old German and Bayern Munich midfielder collapsed twice in just four days during pre-season friendlies. On Tuesday, he took to Instagram to explain his condition to fans and teammates.
The German international revealed he is being treated for a neurological dysfunction. This condition causes him to experience absence seizures. Musiala was quick to reassure his followers that the situation is under control.
“First things first- I'm fine! I am especially grateful for your messages and support. I have been diagnosed with temporary, short-occurring, but well-treatable absences, which are caused by neurological dysfunction.”
The first incident took place on Saturday during a 3-1 friendly win over RB Leipzig in Munich. Musiala went down during the match, sparking initial concerns. However, the situation escalated on Tuesday evening during a game against Heidenheim.
Musiala started the match on the bench and came on as a second-half substitute. Only eight minutes after entering the pitch, he collapsed again. Players from both Bayern Munich and Heidenheim surrounded him while he received medical attention. The young star appeared dazed as he was eventually helped off the field by medical staff.

The Diagnosis Explained
Following the second collapse, Musiala underwent medical tests to determine the cause. He has now shared the findings of those specialists. In his social media statement, he detailed the exact nature of the episodes.
He noted that these "absences" were responsible for the moments seen against Leipzig and Heidenheim. He added: "The important thing is that there is no health risk beyond that."
Bayern Munich’s hierarchy has been aware of the player's health status. Sporting director Max Eberl confirmed after the Heidenheim game that the club was monitoring the situation closely. He noted that Musiala was in the dressing room after the match and was preparing to speak publicly.
Musiala emphasized that he is not facing this challenge alone. “I am in the best medical treatment and very optimistic about this. FC Bayern and my private environment are always by my side and support me along this way,” he added.
Despite the alarming nature of the collapses, Musiala is determined to continue his career. He has been working with neurological specialists to manage the condition. He expressed a strong desire to return to his "passion" for football.
