Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has opened up about a life-altering incident that occurred in March during a football match between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards at Nyayo Stadium.
In a reflective post on his Facebook page, Salasya said the attack left a profound impact on him, prompting significant personal change. He credited God for helping him become a calmer and more focused person.
“Nowadays, I am a good young man. I’ve managed to control my anger, I prayed to God to save me, and since that attack at Nyayo Stadium, I’ve remained harmless and focused,” Salasya wrote.

The outspoken legislator was responding to comments made by activist Morara Kebaso, who had been asked in an interview to name young politicians with the potential to run for the presidency and champion youth interests.
Kebaso, who is positioning himself for a presidential bid through his INJECT party, mentioned Salasya as one of the promising leaders capable of leading the nation but noted a particular area of concern.
“Even P.K. Salasya can do it. He just needs to reduce what he consumes. I won’t say exactly what, but if he can put a stop to it, he is more than capable of leading,” Kebaso said.
Despite his reservations, Kebaso acknowledged Salasya’s development projects in Mumias, describing them as commendable.
“If you look at the work he has done in Mumias, it’s impressive. We have options for leaders who can deliver – young people who have been given the chance and are showing potential,” Kebaso added.
