Michelle Obama, wife of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, has once again spoken out against persistent rumours surrounding the state of their marriage.

The former First Lady, who has been vocal in refuting speculation of any cracks in their relationship, stated that if there were genuine problems, the public would hear the truth – not rumours.

Speaking during a podcast with entrepreneur and investor Steven Bartlett, Michelle set the record straight following speculation around the couple’s recent public appearances.

“If I were having problems with my husband, everybody would know about it,” she said with a laugh.

Bartlett referenced media reports suggesting marital issues after Michelle was absent from Donald Trump’s inauguration earlier this year – an absence that some interpreted as a sign of impending divorce.

“Let me tell you, he would know it,” Michelle responded, pointing to her brother and podcast co-host, Craig Robinson. “And everybody would know it.”

The 61-year-old former First Lady is currently promoting her podcast IMO (In My Opinion), which she co-hosts with Craig Robinson.

The podcast offers an intimate look into her views on relationships, personal development, and life behind the scenes.

Michelle made it clear she is “not a martyr”, joking that if there were marital strife, she would likely address it directly rather than quietly endure it.

While she admitted that marriage to Barack – or anyone – is not always easy, she stressed that she has no regrets. “Marriage is hard,” she said, “but I wouldn’t trade it with my person.”

She also touched on how younger generations often give up on relationships too easily, partly due to unrealistic expectations built on public figures like herself and Barack.

“I talk about these things because I think that people give up too quickly on marriage,” said the Becoming author. “They see Barack and me and think, ‘Oh, they must have a perfect marriage.’ But no marriage is perfect.”

Michelle has often spoken candidly about the ups and downs of their marriage, particularly on her podcast, where she aims to offer a more authentic and grounded perspective on love, family, and life in the spotlight.

The Obamas have been married for 32 years. They tied the knot in 1992 and have two daughters: Malia Ann, born in 1998, and Natasha Marian – better known as Sasha – born in 2001.
