It was an event designed to uplift, network, and celebrate women’s resilience, but it was Millie’s hilarious remarks that stole the show.
Taking the microphone, she playfully tackled the question at the heart of the summit: What do women want? With her signature wit, she declared, "We want tall, dark, and handsome men!" The room erupted in laughter and cheers as she continued, "Even now, I still turn my head to look whenever I see one. That’s what women want!"
Millie’s candid confession was a lighthearted reminder that women, no matter their age or status, should feel free to express what they appreciate and desire.

A Woman Beyond Expectations
Beyond her playful remarks, Millie Odhiambo has consistently challenged societal expectations of women, particularly regarding marriage and motherhood.
In a 2021 interview on Radio Jambo with Annitah Raey, she opened up about her personal journey, including her marriage to Zimbabwean national Mr. Mabona and her decision to embrace a child-free life.
Married to a man with a daughter from a previous relationship, Millie has long been transparent about her struggles with fibroids, which affected her ability to conceive naturally. However, rather than seeing it as a setback, she believes it was part of her divine purpose.
"I have seen that God intended me to be in Parliament without a child so that I can be a voice for childless women. I have witnessed the pain many go through—some are even physically harmed for not having children. I am proud to be a mother to the motherless," she said.
Despite public criticism, especially from men who attempt to belittle her for not having children, Millie has remained unwavering. In September 2021, she directly addressed her trolls, saying she had fully accepted her reality and moved on.
"Those who attack me for not having kids, kindly know that I have accepted the will of God. I am a mother to the motherless, and I am proud of that," she stated.
Redefining Womanhood Beyond Motherhood
Millie strongly believes that a woman’s worth is not defined by her ability to bear children. In a past interview with The Star, she emphasized, "Having or not having a child does not define me. Women should rise above this and refuse to be judged based on motherhood."
