Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has shared a glimpse of her birthday celebrations after her children surprised her with a cake early in the morning.
The politician celebrated another year of life on Thursday, November 5, and took to social media to share a video capturing the thoughtful gesture from her little ones.
In the video, Karen appeared to be relaxing in bed when her bedroom door opened and her children walked in carrying a birthday cake decorated with fruits and lit candles.
The youngsters sang the Happy Birthday song as they approached their mother, who filmed the sweet moment from beneath her bed covers.
An adult woman followed closely behind the children as they presented the cake, leaving Karen to enjoy an intimate birthday celebration with her family.

Alongside the video, Karen shared a heartfelt message reflecting on her journey, the lessons she had learnt and her gratitude for another year.
"Cheers to another year of life! 🥂 I've won some battles, lost some, loved, laughed and learnt. Through it all, God has been faithful," she wrote.
The senator also expressed pride in the woman she had become and the mother she continued to be, noting that she was looking forward to what the future held.
"I'm so grateful for the woman I am, the mother I get to be, the journey behind me and everything that lies ahead. My heart is full, my faith is strong, and my best chapters are still being written," she added.
However, it was her children's surprise that appeared to be one of the highlights of her special day.
"This morning, my babies woke me up with a surprise cake, reminding me that some of life's greatest blessings are already mine 🤗🥰," Karen shared.
She concluded her message by looking forward to another year filled with happiness, love and purpose.
"Here's to more life, more love, more purpose and everything God has in store for me," she wrote.

Karen is a mother of three children. Her eldest daughter, Tiana, is from her previous relationship with DJ Saint Kevin.
She also shares two children with Mugithi singer Samidoh Muchoki.
