First Lady Rachel Ruto has taken an active role in preparing her daughter Charlene Ruto for marriage after hosting a special gathering attended by female relatives and close family friends.

The event, dubbed ‘The Mother’s Blessing’, brought together Charlene’s mother, aunties, Senges and close family friends who gathered to pray for her as she prepares to begin a new chapter with her Tanzanian fiancé, Isaya Yunge.

Photos from the occasion showed Rachel dressed in an elegant white embroidered outfit featuring a flowing jacket with dramatic sleeves and a matching fitted skirt.

Charlene later took to social media to share moments from the gathering, expressing gratitude to the women who showed up to celebrate and guide her.

She explained that the occasion went beyond exchanging gifts, as the women also offered prayers and advice on preparing for married life.

“A beautiful gathering where my mother, aunties, Senges and mother’s friends blessed my future marriage, prayed for me, loved on me, gifted me and guided me on how to INVEST in my life and family,” she wrote.

The bride-to-be also had special words for her mother, acknowledging the support she has received from her over the years.

“Thank you, Mama, for being my prayer warrior and biggest cheerleader all my life,” Charlene added.

The gathering allowed Rachel to publicly celebrate her daughter while joining other women in offering guidance as she prepares for marriage.

Charlene’s wedding preparations

The Mother’s Blessing came a day after Charlene held her main bridal shower on Tuesday, November 3, in Nairobi.

The celebration brought together her close friends and family members, who joined her in marking the upcoming wedding.

Charlene and Isaya previously held their traditional Kalenjin engagement ceremony, known as Koito, on August 8, at Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.

The ceremony formalized their union before the anticipated white wedding.

Isaya, a Tanzanian entrepreneur from Mwanza, has largely kept his relationship with Charlene private until the couple began sharing glimpses of their journey towards marriage.

With the pre-wedding celebrations underway, Charlene has continued to give Kenyans glimpses into the family moments leading up to her big day.
