The Director of Public Prosecutions has secured a death sentence against former USIU-Africa student Duncan Livingstone Kimathi for the 2012 murder of his colleague, Sarah Aruwa. Justice Kanyi Kimondo found Kimathi guilty of murdering Akello in Githunguri, Kiambu County, in a case involving abduction and a 100-thousand-shilling ransom demand. The prosecution presented 17 witnesses, with the court ruling that the victim had been deliberately lured into a trap before being abducted and killed.
