Tanzanian Bongo Flava star Zuchu has opened up on her postpartum weight journey, detailing how she has been working to shed the 24 kilograms she gained during pregnancy.
Speaking in a candid sit-down interview with Mandoplus in Dar es Salaam, the WCB signee was remarkably open about the numbers, saying she weighed around 58 kg when she became pregnant and eventually reached 82 kg.
Zuchu said the change caught even those closest to her off guard, given how petite she had always been.
What Zuchu ate to lose the baby weight
In the days after giving birth, stitches made it uncomfortable for Zuchu to eat solid food. She relied on blended soups and milk instead.
She credited the soups with helping her lose weight quickly in the early weeks.
Once she could eat more freely, her doctor advised portion control rather than strict restriction.
“My plate is full of nutrients but not things that will make me gain weight.”

She described a typical meal as a small portion of rice, no bigger than three fistfuls, with a bowl of soup, a piece of chicken or fish, green vegetables and fruit on the side.
Heavy staples have been replaced on Zuchu’s plate by oats porridge and watery dishes. She eats little and often, keeping each portion under control.
Gentle on the exercise front
Zuchu is keeping her workouts light for now. She said she is not yet three months postpartum, so she is sticking to walking and light weights only.
