The renowned Kenyan singing group, the Moipei sisters, have launched a public fundraiser to assist with their father's medical bills. Nicholas Moipei is currently receiving treatment in India for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL), a form of blood cancer.

The singers shared the announcement on their official social media page, asking friends, fans, and well-wishers to support the family during this challenging period.

Appeal for Medical Care

The family explained that the fundraising effort aims to lighten the financial burden of specialised cancer care overseas. In their message to the public, the sisters asked well-wishers to donate or share the campaign details.

"Dear friends, we have started a fundraiser to help our dad as he receives treatment in India for CLL, a type of blood cancer," the group wrote.

"We're hoping to ease some of the costs so he can focus on getting the care he needs."

They expressed deep gratitude to everyone offering support or keeping their family in prayer.

"If you're able, please consider donating or sharing the fundraiser," they added. "Every bit of support means so much to our family."

A Musical Legacy

The Moipei sisters are among Kenya's most celebrated musical acts. The core group consists of identical triplets Mary, Maggy (Magdaline), and Marta Moipei.

They originally began performing as a four-member vocal group known as The Moipei Quartet alongside their younger sister, Seraphine. Over the years, they gained national and international acclaim for their harmonious vocal arrangements spanning classical, gospel, and contemporary music.

Today, they perform frequently as a recognised vocal trio. Their father, Nicholas Moipei, has served as a key mentor in their musical journey and previously chaired the Kenya Cultural Centre Governing Council.

Previous Health Struggles

This appeal comes after a previous medical emergency involving their father in December 2022. At that time, Nicholas was rushed to hospital in the middle of the night following severe internal bleeding caused by a ruptured stomach ulcer.

After losing over six pints of blood, he underwent emergency life-saving surgery and was admitted to an intensive care unit. The sisters set up a campaign targeting KSh 1.5 million to cover those emergency expenses.

Following public support, he made a full recovery and returned home in January 2023.

Now facing a new health battle in India, the family once again relies on the generosity of well-wishers to see him through treatment.
