Kenyan gospel singer Meshack Mpendwa, known as Mesh, has asked his wife and musical partner, Ninah Wambui, to allow him to take the lead in their marriage.
The plea came during a recent conversation shared by the gospel couple on their digital channel. Mesh explained his perspective directly to his wife during their chat.
"I feel like you need to let me lead you," Mesh told her.
He asked her to give him space to guide certain aspects of their relationship.
"I’m not saying umenikalia, but at times I feel like you can just listen to me and hear me and just let me take over that part," he added.

Navigating Boundaries and People-Pleasing
During the discussion, the couple reflected on how their contrasting personalities affect their dynamic.
Mesh admitted that he struggles with setting firm boundaries with other people.
"Girl, I'm a people pleaser," Mesh stated.
He acknowledged that Ninah brought needed structure when she entered his life.
"And when you came to my life, you came to put boundaries now cuz you know me," he said.
Mesh noted that he appreciates her firm stance against those who might take advantage of his nature.
"I love that part where you become harsh to people who want to take advantage of me," Mesh explained.
However, Mesh expressed that he sometimes prefers a more relaxed approach.
"But now there's a part where at times I just want to lose an updo too," he remarked.
Accepting Different Seasons of Life
Mesh further emphasised the importance of allowing partners and friends the freedom to navigate their own journeys. He pointed out that rigid expectations can harm personal connections.

"One of the things that kills relationships at a marriage, friendships, relationships, our relatives and everything is when we don't let people be themselves," Mesh said.
He highlighted that individuals often experience contrasting emotional seasons simultaneously.
"You're in a season of thanksgiving. I'm in a season of pain and crying," Mesh noted.
He added that people must be permitted to make mistakes to learn.
"You can't always be there as a police," he told Ninah.
"In fact by them doing the wrong thing is when they will discover the right thing," Mesh stated.
"One of the things that kills relationships at a marriage, friendships, relationships, our relatives and everything is when we don't let people be themselves,” Meshack Mpendwa added.
The Gospel Duo
Meshack and Ninah Mpendwa form Wapendwa Muziki, one of Kenya's most prominent gospel duos.

The couple has been together for over ten years and officially married for over five years. Months ago, they welcomed a baby together.
