Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna, Monica Juma, has blamed geopolitical tensions and the misuse of technology to spread disinformation for growing mistrust among countries and weakening multilateralism. Speaking during the ongoing Trust Summit 2026, Juma highlighted her office’s efforts to rebuild trust by tackling transnational organised crime and drug trafficking, while encouraging countries to adopt policies that strengthen international cooperation.
