Popular Kamba Benga musician Alex Kasau Katombi has removed the official music video for his song 'Wikend' from YouTube. The decision follows a formal regulatory directive from the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB).
Prior to its removal, the original production had accumulated over one million views within a few days of release.
Regulatory Directive Over Unclassified Content
The KFCB issued an official press statement on Friday, 16th October 2026. Signed by Acting Chief Executive Officer Petronilla Mueni, the document confirmed that the board flagged the 'Wikend' music video for breaching Sections 4 and 12 of the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap. 222.
"Through routine compliance monitoring, the Board established that the video was neither licensed nor classified before its distribution to the public,” Kenya Film Classification Board said.

"The video, which premiered on YouTube, contains sexually explicit content, nudity and indecent exposure, while depicting substance abuse, alcohol consumption and tobacco use, making it unsuitable for general exhibition,” KFCB added.
The regulator collaborated with Google Kenya to direct the artist to take down the release from his YouTube channel and all digital distribution platforms accessible to minors.
Clean Version Reuploaded to YouTube Trending Chart
In response to the directive, Katombi uploaded a modified edit titled 'ALEX KASAU KATOMBI-WIKEND (CLEAN VIDEO)' under his record label, Kisinga Sounds.
The modified video experienced rapid viewership growth. Within 22 hours of publication, the clean version recorded more than 147,000 views. It also secured the number 10 position on YouTube's music trending chart in Kenya. The musician’s verified YouTube channel maintains a subscriber base of over 761,000 followers.
"KFCB strongly condemns the production and distribution of unlawful audiovisual content and reiterates that creative freedom must be exercised responsibly and within the confines of the law,” noted Petronilla Mueni, Ag. Chief Executive Officer, KFCB.
