Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Friday inspected the ongoing construction of a 53-kilometre access road linking several areas in Gichugu Constituency, Kirinyaga County, to Kiamwathi Senior School.

The Piai-Mbiri-Ngiriambu-Kiamutugu-Muchagara-Karumandi-Thumaita-Kamugunda-Kamweti-Kavote-Kimunye road is being upgraded at a cost of Sh2 billion.

He said the government was implementing its pledge to upgrade rural roads to support economic development.

Kindiki was accompanied by Gichugu MP Gichimu Githinji, Principal Secretaries Mary Muthoni (Public Health) and Alex Wachira (Energy), MCAs and local leaders.
