Kenya’s democracy must never be anchored on one individual, despite the significant contribution of the late Raila Odinga. Reflecting on Raila’s first death anniversary governance expert Javas Bigambo says says the former PM played a critical role in strengthening institutions, championing constitutional reforms and advancing democratic freedoms. He argues that Raila’s absence should challenge political parties to build sustainable institutions rather than depend on personalities.
