Kenya can reduce poverty by attracting investors, equipping young people with skills and preventing the misuse of public resources. Economist Charles Karisa says deliberate efforts are needed to prevent more Kenyans from falling into poverty, adding that everyone has a role to play in eradicating it. According to 2022 KNBS statistics, 20.2 million Kenyans, or 39.8 per cent of the population, lived below the overall poverty line. This comes ahead of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, marked on October 17.
