Despite accounting for 20% of the world's population, Africa receives under 3% of global energy investments and just 2% for clean energy. Addressing the media during the launch of Sustainable Energy Conference (SEC) 2026, KenGen Acting Managing Director and CEO Ronoh Kibet, urged global financiers to step in and unlock economic opportunities for over 600 million Africans currently living without access to electricity.
