42.5 per cent of children with disabilities across Nairobi, Kajiado, Kilifi, Machakos, Murang’a, Samburu and Siaya counties are not enrolled in school. This is according to a study released by The Action Foundation (TAF) and its partners. Conducted in March this year, the report highlights that 9.5 per cent of children aged 5 to 18 live with a disability. The findings also exposed stark regional disparities in caregiver support, ranging from 72.3 per cent in Murang’a to just 23.3 per cent in Siaya, underscoring deep-seated community attitudes and structural barriers.
