Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui has called for stronger quality standards in Kenya’s energy sector, saying growing renewable capacity must translate into lower production costs, more jobs and greater industrial competitiveness. Speaking during World Standards Day celebrations in Nairobi, he said affordable, reliable power is critical to manufacturing, warning that higher generation would have limited impact if businesses still faced high operating costs. He added that standards ensure energy technologies are safe, efficient and reliable, helping Kenyan firms compete in local and international markets.
