Radio presenter and podcaster Alex Mwakideu has started a heated online debate with his advice to men about money and marriage.
He shared a quote graphic on Facebook on Wednesday, 14 October 2026. Written in Swahili, it reads:
"Pesa ya mwanaume ni tamu zaidi. Hata kama wife analipwa zaidi yako; Mpe tu hela!"
In short, he says a man's money is sweeter. He adds that a man should give his wife money even if she earns more than he does.
His caption asked: "Ladies deserve Money, give them Money?"
The comment section split quickly. Several commenters agreed with him, while others sharply disagreed.
Dolly Makena wrote: "You are right and God bless you kwa huo ufahamu."
Dada Wa Imani said: "Wow, I listen to this again and again; perfect."
Josephine Kiviu added: "Yes, please, and money is money. 5k is not money."
Sarah Ogutu commented: "Praise the Lord."
Concepta Steve urged him: "Tell them."
Victoria Raburu wrote: "Hapo sasa."
The doubters
Others pushed back with questions.
Inspekta Thoyear asked: "And what do they have to give us apart from ile kitu?"
Mc Njoya Brian asked: "Where do you want that money to come from?"
Onesmus Mathuka challenged the presenter's own home: "I would agree with you if only your wife would tell us."
Some commenters argued that money was not the main thing. Peter Osabe wrote: "Give her love; it’s the winner of the table."
Mwakideu is a Radio47 radio personality. He spent eight years at Radio Maisha before moving to Milele FM, then to Radio47. He also runs a podcast and is a regular voice on relationships.
He has spoken about marriage before. In a past confession, he said a social media exposé involving him and his friends nearly ruined his marriage. He said he sorted it out and thanked his wife for understanding.
