Women in Kenya take an average of 19 years to become school principals, compared with 16 years for men, due to caregiving responsibilities, relocation demands and gender stereotypes. Women Educational Researchers of Kenya CEO Sophia Yiega says these barriers are not failures of ability or ambition, but challenges that education systems and communities can change. A study by WERK and Global School Leaders calls for fairer promotion systems and stronger support for women.
