President William Ruto says Kenya will stop importing shoes within the next three years as the government moves to boost local leather manufacturing. He said the initiative aims to increase the use of Kenyan leather, create jobs and reduce reliance on imported footwear. Ruto noted that eight companies are already using locally produced leather to manufacture goods, expressing optimism that improved quality will strengthen the local industry.
