Police in Dandora, Nairobi, have arrested a 32-year-old woman accused of subjecting her eight-year-old daughter to female genital mutilation using a surgical blade. Neighbours raised the alarm and restrained the suspect before police arrived with a children’s officer. The minor was rescued, treated at Dandora Phase 3 Health Centre and later discharged in stable condition. She has since been placed in a safe home. The suspect Florence Ng’endo Nyambura is being held at Dandora Police Station and is expected to face charges including performing FGM and child cruelty.
