SHA headquarters in Nairobi/FILEThe Social Health Authority (SHA) has introduced a one-month moratorium on five Know Your Customer (KYC) documents required during the contracting and onboarding of eligible healthcare providers.
The moratorium took effect immediately and will run until November 4, 2026.
SHA said the move is intended to facilitate the contracting and onboarding of eligible healthcare providers.
The documents covered by the moratorium are the National Social Security Fund certificate, National Environment Management Authority licence, Fire Safety Compliance Certificate, National Council for Persons with Disabilities Compliance Certificate, and Office of the Data Protection Commissioner Data Processor and Data Controller certificates.
SHA said all other mandatory documents remain subject to the contracting requirements.
These include the SHA Compliance Certificate and Kenya Revenue Authority Tax Compliance Certificate.
During e-contracting, healthcare providers have been directed to indicate whether each document is available or unavailable and upload all documents currently in their possession.
Providers who meet all other mandatory contracting requirements but are missing one or more of the five documents may receive a conditional contract valid until November 4.
SHA said the providers will be required to submit the outstanding documents by the end of the moratorium period.
Providers who have all the required documents and meet the other contracting requirements will be eligible for a three-year contract.
SHA said the moratorium does not remove the requirement for healthcare providers to obtain the outstanding documents.
"The moratorium does not waive the requirement to obtain the outstanding mandatory documents," SHA said in the notice.
SHA has advised healthcare providers to use the e-contracting process to indicate the status of the documents and upload those already available.
