Teso South's political contest is already attracting attention, with a new opinion poll by Bobea Research & Insights placing incumbent MP Mary Emase at 71.8% among respondents surveyed in the constituency.
The findings, dated October 6, 2026, are contained in the Bobea Constituency Tracker, which surveyed 375 respondents across Teso South.
According to the poll, Peter Imwatok Jateso follows with 17%, while 11.2% of respondents remain undecided.
Emase records 71.8% in Bobea poll
The figures released by Bobea Research & Insights are:
Mary Emase — 71.8%
Peter Imwatok Jateso — 17.0%
Undecided — 11.2%
The results give Emase a 54.8 percentage-point lead over Jateso within the poll's stated voter preferences.
Bobea says the survey interviewed 375 respondents across Teso South Constituency using random sampling.

Why respondents say they support Emase
According to the report, respondents who indicated support for Emase cited three main reasons for their preference.
They included her development record in the constituency, servant leadership style and accessibility to constituents.
“The data shows a high approval rating anchored on tangible development and close connection with the electorate,” the report notes.
The poll therefore captures both the candidate preferences recorded during the survey and the reasons respondents gave for their choices.
11.2% remain undecided
While Emase records 71.8% in the poll, more than one in 10 respondents, 11.2% had not settled on a candidate.
Bobea Research & Insights cautioned that the findings represent the mood at the time the data was collected and that voter intentions can change.
The poll is therefore a snapshot of preferences in Teso South rather than a prediction of the eventual election result.
As the political process continues, candidates and their supporters will be looking to translate their respective support into sustained voter engagement ahead of the election.
